I have apple’s brand new “smartphone” and there’s no stereo sound whatsoever. Only the bottom speaker plays music, nothing comes out of the top speaker at all. This is an advertised feature that does not work.
Restart did fix stereo sound.
(iPhone Xs, iOS 12.1(16B92))
Restart your iPhone, then check Settings>General>Accessibility>(Hearing) Balance?
If the slider is in the middle, try to gently move it left or right.
If you still hear nothing from the top earpiece, since your iphone is brand new, have it inspected at your most convenient Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider:

Yeah, restarting an iPhone doesnt magically fix buggy code. This is yet ANOTHER iOS software bug that will always exist until it is fixed.
