words spelled correctly in pages show up with red

Words spelled correctly in pages document are showing up with red line underneath. This has been happening in the last week, when I press control + click there are no alternate words being suggested, or any spelling and grammar option to be engaged.

This appears to be happening since I upgraded to Mojave Version: 10.14.1 (18B75) / MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) / Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 / Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Any help would be appreciated.

Pages v7.2 will underline words in red whose grammatical usage is incorrect for the sentence. Though it would certainly help to have grammatical errors underlined in green, using a red underline for spelling and grammar introduces unnecessary confusion.

Select the sentence or paragraph, and then Edit menu : Spelling and Grammar : Show Spelling and Grammar to see if there is any usage warning provided.

I just posted something to the Pages Product team about restoring a green underscore for grammatical errors. As a writer, you may want a more robust grammar checker to use in concert with Pages. The following may be of help:

  • Grammarly (requires free Grammarly account) Mac Client or browser extension.
  • Linguisoft's Grammarian Pro2 X (Mojave ready) free trial, and purchase.

Works with Pages v7.2 on Mojave 10.14.1 (tested Sat 2018-11-03)

  • Any grammar checker in the Mac App Store that meets your needs.
