SIM card does not work
buy an iphone in the united states. but does not work with my panama sim card as I do?

Where did you buy the phone?
The only source for unlocked iPhones in the US is directly from Apple. If you purchased a phone from another source (Best Buy, Target, etc) It is NOT unlocked. It can only be activated on a US carrier and will lock to the carrier used to activate it.
Only the carrier it's locked to can authorize unlocking it.
