Keyboard Shortcuts Don't Work with Keynote in Presentation Mode in 8.3?

I learned this the hard way. The latest build of Keynote 8.3 (5989) has changed the default settings so keyboard shortcuts no longer work in presentation mode. As we all know, this is essential if you are using web-based audience response software and trying to do a CMD+TAB to swap between screens. Not only has the default been changed but the checkbox is not labeled properly and it is impossible to find. So, if you find yourself in the same embarrassing bind, here is how to fix it:

  • Open Keynote Preferences
  • Go to Slideshow tab
  • Select the box that says "Allow Mission Control, Dashboard and others to use the screen."

An easy fix but impossible to find because it was not labeled correctly and not described in the knowledge base.

Cant help with sorting your system, as a point of information, Keynote 8.3 has not changed any settings for keyboard commands when in play. Every command we used previously is available on all our systems running High Sierra and Mojave.

Application switcher also works correctly (alt tab)

the checkbox is not labeled properly and it is impossible to find.

checkbox is where it's always been on our systems. How is it labeled on your system?
