Unable to swipe up with the new Apple pencil, so can’t close an app or bring out the Control Center. Any solutions? Dropping the pencil to use a regular stylus makes no sense. It works with a regular stylus. Why the difference?

There appears to a behaviour change in how the Apple Pencil works on screen, at the screen edges, as a navigation device, now.
There is always your finger.
