change SIM pin code on iOS 12.1

Hi,
i got recently new SIM and as always after inserting it into my iPhone 7+, i went to settings app to change pin code and that option was missing, I tried powering phone without SIM and then add it again - same, tried factory reset - same.
Then I did experiment: my wife's iPhone 6s was still on 12.0.1 and change PIN code option was present, so i did update to 12.1 and after that that option was gone.
If use search in settings app it shows SIM pin options but after pressing them it just opens Settings->Phone menu.

So is this bug on iOS 12.1 or they change something?

In iOS 12.1, the SIM PIN can be set under Settings > Cellular (or Mobile) > SIM PIN. If you're still not able to find or set the PIN, please reach out to Apple Support directly for additional assistance: Contact Apple Support .

Cellular and Mobile are the same thing—it’s your carrier data. It’s just that Cellular is the US term and Mobile is for basically everywhere else. So. They moved the SIM PIN option it from Settings > Phone to Settings > Cellular in the US or Settings > Mobile if you’re outside the US.

It’s POSSIBLE that outside the US it’s specifically Settings > Mobile Data, but in my US phone it’s under Settings > Cellular > SIM PIN. No “data” attached.

Just an FYI.

Actually it was under Settings > Mobile Data (at least in my case). Thanks for answer, it gave my an idea for checking "Mobile data" menu 🙂

It seems Apple moved SIM PIN from "Settings > cellular (mobile)" to " Settings > Mobile Data" without advise.

One of those fun facts 🙂 I even went to my carrier to ask help but they too only knew old placement of SIM pin code 😀 Interesting is that even iOS at first showed that this setting is under Settings > Phone when I tried to search it

It was really frustrating the fact that I was looking for this option in the menu for long before I read this post.

Could someone from Apple inform us why I was not addressed to the right part of the menu when I was typing "sim pin" in the search menu within "Settings".

If it worked properly I would have changed my PIN 2-3 days ago but now I spent a few hours checking online for solution till I found this post!
