This has been answered before, but I forgot the answer. What is Legacy Mac?

You're probably right, but why would

Audacity have a download page (can't find it now) that has one line for Macs and one line for Legacy Macs if Legacy refers to software? I mean, I can understand people having old machines, but I can't understand why anyone would have obsolete software. I can't understand how there could be enough people with obsolete software to justify a separate Audacity category for them.

I just realized that Audacity must be referring to old machines, not software.

Why would anyone be running out of date OS versions, and why wouldn't they have updated to the latest Audacity version? Even if they were, they could easily be updated in either case, so there would be no need for Audacity to cater to them.
