You're probably right, but why would
Audacity have a download page (can't find it now) that has one line for Macs and one line for Legacy Macs if Legacy refers to software? I mean, I can understand people having old machines, but I can't understand why anyone would have obsolete software. I can't understand how there could be enough people with obsolete software to justify a separate Audacity category for them.
I just realized that Audacity must be referring to old machines, not software.
Why would anyone be running out of date OS versions, and why wouldn't they have updated to the latest Audacity version? Even if they were, they could easily be updated in either case, so there would be no need for Audacity to cater to them.
FWIW, the page refers to the legacy Universal Binary version of Audacity, not Legacy Macs.
You're welcome. I was just noting when you first type 2007 it would be obsolete but after you corrected it to 2013 it was not.
Thanks. Having the answer where I'll always be able to find it means that I won't have to write it down one hundred times. For now, I guess I can say that my late 2013 iMac is NOT a legacy Mac...yet.
Legacy = hardware that has been superseded.
This article talks about Obsolete or Vintage Macs but it may help you.
It is obsolete.
What's worse, Legacy or obsolete?
A 2007 iMac is obsolete, a 2013 iMac is not. Legacy usually refers to Mac software.
There is no worse. Obsolete computers are no longer supported.
Thanks, but I made a mistake. My computer is a late 2013 model. It is definitely not a 2007 model.
Thanks. Now that that's settled, I'm ready to start learning how to use Audacity.
Enjoy. 😎
