AppleScript to number files?

hi there!

I wonder if anyone can help please?

i was wondering if there’s a script or shell command to pull one file repeatedly from one drive to another (probably needing some kind of script ant this stage to tell the computer to keep both versions rather than replacing one with the other...) then name each file a suffix a sequence of logical numbers on to it as it duplicates onto the second drive?

Ultimately what I need is a series of copies of the same file labelled...

‘my file name’ 1.0

‘my file name‘ 1.1 etc.

through

’my file name 1.9’

then

‘my file name’ 2.0’

etc

then

‘my file name‘ 3.0

and so on...

i’d be grateful for any help. It’s tiresome doing this manually!

many thanks in advance!
