Access files in flash drive

I just purchased a new iPad Pro 2018 and would like to access the files in a flash drive via the USB-C port. Can someone suggest the ways to accomplish it. Thanks!

Apple sell a USB-C to USB adapter for the iPad - which will facilitate connection of a standard USB flash memory stick to your iPad

USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple

Alternative methods to are either to connect via an appropriate USB cable to a powered external USB-hub, or by using one of the new hub-adapters being released by various third-party manufacturers. Here us one example:

Unless the new 2018 iPad Pro behaves differently to every other iOS device before it, iOS doesn’t provide the means to “explore” the full file system of an attached device - as you are otherwise accustomed with a PC or Mac.

Only supported file types are accessible; for files to be accessible within iOS, they must also conform to the rigid folder structure and naming conventions that are applied to cameras and their storage media. Take a look at your camera’s SD-card storage system to see the supported structure.

Your USB adapter only provides an electrical interface - that provides limited support in connecting certain external devices only. Unfortunately, iOS have never provided full access to connected storage devices - and this has never been particularly clear within available documentation.

I have purchased the USB-C to USB adapter as well but did not see the file contents in File Browser. Do I need any app to help seeing the contents in the flash drive?

If above is working, I believe the second method may work.

All other options did not mention the operation of flash drive. It seems they intentionally avoid to mention this functionality. If works, I am willing to purchase but no one emphasis their success for sure.

FYI,

No iPad, even iPad Pro, is a full featured and complete replacement for a full blown, flexible, feature rich laptop/MacBook computer.

iPads are scaled down, more simplified form of a laptop computer and both the hardware and OS have limitations and a different workflow/different way of working with data.

If you need a tablet device as powerful as a full featured laptop computer that also uses a touch screen and stylus pen, then the iPad Pro may NOT be for you.

IF you have had this iPad Pro for less than 14 days, return it for a full refund and look at Microsoft Surface tablet products, instead, that support full Windows OS and uses input devices like mice/trackpads and the Surface Dial and can connect all sorts of peripheral and storage devices.

These are just as expensive as the all new iPad Pro models, but you will get all of the features and convenience of any Windows laptop.

Always purchase the correct tool that meets or exceeds your needs.

Good Luck to You!
