Can I use my "Early 09 Mac" as a display for my 2017 Macbook?

I have an old "early 09" MAC that I want to use as a display for my new-ish 2017 Macbook. Can this be done...and what type of cable do I need to make this happen?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro, iOS 12.1
