Unable to boot into OSX, Mac startup disk renamed and not mounted anymore

I was using windows via bootcamp and upon restart by holding down the option key, I saw that the Mac startup disk was missing, and I only had the option of booting into Windows. So I restarted and got cmd+r to go into recovery, and now my startup disk has been renamed “APDS Physical Store disk0s2”.

According to the details, it’s got zero kb available. Does this mean all my data has been wiped? Should I give up and just erase and repair/reformat?

When I try to verify and looking through folders, it says it’s “unable to locate original location” of the folder...

Considering the likely outcome of all this, my brain’s doing a pretty stellar job of cognitive dissonance and blocking out the reality that I may have lost everything!

I’m willing to try anything. Can you tell me the steps? I really do appreciate your help in this...there is just way too much work on that disk for me to just forfeit. I am indebted to you...

But I have to ask you — have you seen this issue before? And it’s resolved the same way?

I don't get a result when I type in just the command. It asks for my password and when I type it in, it just goes back to this:

Disconnected external G drive. USB is actually running high Sierra (internet recovery only downloaded and installed High Sierra). These are the results from running:

diskutil apfs list

sudo fsck_apfs -n -l /dev/rdisk0s2

Garys-MacBook-Pro:~ portable-osx$ diskutil apfs list

Okay — stand by for results! Installing Mojave now on a second USB. When it’s done, I just attempt to run First Aid/repair from Mojave?

Oh and btw, in the spirit of Black Friday — here’s an incredible deal for USB-C flash drives, the ones I’ve been using to install bootables (they run flawlessly):

https://bit.ly/2PGgQXB

Amazon, BHphoto, etc. have it all around the same range in price too. I got Best Buy to price match it — twice.

So, I'm getting the same level of access as High Sierra...the only difference seems to be that I can view more with "Verify Disk" of the effected disk (disk0s2), although most of may folders are empty, like Documents, Downloads, etc. Applications looks to be reset to a fresh install of OS X.

When I try to run First Aid, it immediately gives me the msg:

First Aid process has failed. If possible back up the data on this volume. Click Done to continue.

Details:

Running First Aid on “” (disk0s2)

An internal error has occurred.

Operation failed…

When I try to run the command sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s2 count=5 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C,

I get the same result as last time:

So... am I screwed?
