Phony Format Font > Capitalization

I used Format > Font > Capitalization > Title Case to format a column of cells. Looks nice in Numbers, but the underlying capitalization styles still exists if I export to CSV or copy & paste to a different app (ie., if some text was all capitals, it exports as all capitals instead of title case).

How can I really convert the text to title case (or any other other capitalization styles that I choose)?

Well, I should have know this: Use the PROPER function and then paste formula results into a new column.

When using Format in a spreadsheet, it only changes the way the information is displayed visually. it wont change the values underneath.

For example. If you have a column of charges to your bank account, but don't care to see the decimals, you can format to show zero decimals. This would -not- delete the underlying data. the decimals are still there, just not shown to you.

If you want to remove the decimals (in my example) you must use formulas to do so.

Just like in the case of this post, the original poster wanted to actually change the actual text typed into the cell. This required a formula to do, the change in format just made it look better when displayed.

Thanks
