I'm using Numbers 5.3 and would like to put the icon for the Function Browser in my toolbar but it isn't offered in the toolbar customization menu. It's shown in some recent tutorials, where'd it go?

It's there. Just click in a cell in a table and type =. It will show up in the panel on the right.
Note that you can access the same information on functions by going to Help > Formulas and Functions Help in your menu.

Thanks. I've seen what you're talking about, but up until recently it was also a tool which could be put in the toolbar. It had it's own unique icon. When was it removed (why, I might add)? Seems useful if you have a general question about a formula but don't want to start to write one.
I never noticed a tool in the Toolbar. Do you find it difficult to type = in a cell? Or go to Help > Formulas and Functions Help? Both methods allow you to view an explanation of how a function works, together with useful examples.
