iCal is adding second alert to events

For the last week or two, my "at time of event" calendar entries have been sending alerts 15 minutes before the event on my iPhone 8+, (IOS 12.1, 256g). When I look at the calendar entry, a second alert for 15 minutes (my default) has been added. I've edited the entries to remove the 2nd alert for future occurrences and later the second alert reappears. Anybody else experiencing this?

Calendar alerts When I set an alert in calendar, it switches them. For example, if you set the first alert to 1 hour before, then set second alert to 10 minutes before, it switches the first alert to 10 minutes before and the second alert becomes 1 hour before. I can see from previous posts on here that this has been an issue for many years. It’s about time apple fixed it.😡

Calendar adds second event alert by itself How do I stop Calendar from automatically adding a 2nd alert to repeating events? It keeps re-adding the 2nd alert even after I delete the 2nd alert or delete and recreate the event! I go through and make sure EVERY event has ONE alert, and a day later some events have magically got two alerts again I’ve gone through my iphone iPad and Mac settings and all are on the same default alert of one. It’s a mystery ok so update, it seems calendar is doing two things, it’s allowing edits to be reneged and it’s not updating future events when I choose it too. I think this will be something for the call centre to help me with
