Vertical lines going down iMac screen

Hi

I just purchased a 2008 iMac from an office clearance. I did purchase it mega cheap so I can’t really complain, however I’ve already paid for it to be fixed as it wouldnt actually turn on. Now it’s on and I’ve bought a USB to restore the OS on it, I’ve noticed vertical lines going down the screen and it blurs the picture.

Does anyone know if this can be fixed and if so - is it cheap-ish?

Thanks! I’m trying to upload a picture but it’s saying my files too big so I’ll keep trying so you know what I mean.

Try an NVRAM reset.

You may have to try the a few times. If that doesn't help it may be a problem with the graphics card or CPU.
