iTunes is prompting me to update my iPhone XR to 12.1 when it's already running that version. The phone Software Update screen shows iOS 12.1.
iTunes: 12.9.1.4
iPhone XR: iOS 12.1
Windows 10 Pro (10.0.17134)
Another issue is iTunes is showing a generic icon for the iPhone XR. It seems like it doesn't know it's an XR.

I let iTunes do the "update" and now the prompts have stopped even though it's running the exact same version of iOS as before. Weird 😕
iTunes is still showing a generic icon for the phone instead of an XR icon. Maybe I'll try the macOS version of iTunes to see if it behaves differently.

Here Are Some Generic Tips For You.
1. Delete ITunes And Reinstall The Application Making Sure It Is The Latest Version.
2. Simply Click On. Do Not Ask Me Again In The Dialog Box.
3. If The Problem Presists Contact Apple Support.

I uninstalled all Apple software and reinstalled iTunes and iCloud.
Connected the iPhone XR via USB and I'm still getting prompted to update it to 12.1
I guess I'll let it do the update to see if that fixes it.
The question is, should I let it update the phone again or is this a bug?
Just as I suspected, the iPhone XR icon is correct on iTunes for macOS. It's the Windows version that is broken.
This is happening to me, too. I'm sure it is related to the fact that Apple released a new build of iOS 12.1 for the XR about a week after the initial release of iOS 12.1.
I installed iOS 12.1 via the "over the air" software update a day or two after it's initial release, and before the new build.
So far as I know, there was never an explanation for why they did this.
