Why can’t my Mac update?
I have a MacBook Air (7,1) running macOS 10.10.5 and I can’t update any higher. I have roughly 90GB of storage and I’ve tried everything. Why can’t it update?

Because 10.10.5 is the last update for Yosemite. You're confusing "update" with "upgrade."
The update process is a point release on your macOS version, i.e., 10.10.4 to 10.10.5
An upgrade, is going from one macOS version to a newer macOS version, i.e., 10.10.5 to 10.14.1
You upgrade by downloading a newer macOS version from the App Store app.
I tried to download high Sierra from the app store but it says’ the installer information is currently unavailable to downlod or something like that
