apple stainless steel Milanese loop magnetism

good day, I might sound stupid, but how come the stainless steel Milanese loop is magnetic? from my understanding, stainless steel is not magnetic unless you use a grade that has iron in it but those stainless steel can get rust. I would think Apple uses 316 grade stainless as they do with all they're stainless parts, but 316 is not magnetic.

The magnetic content is part of the design, the Milanese Loop even uses a magnet to secure the tail of the band. There are many grades which can be described as “stainless” and the ferritic grades are very definitely magnetic.
