I tried 6 times so far, always the error: "Something went wrong" - which is not very informative as for what can be done to enable the upload.
Any advice?

Have you met all of the iTunes Connect requirements for establishing an account to sell Apple Books, including those listed on the Get Started page? That includes having a U.S. Tax ID, even if you are not a resident of the U.S.
As I am not uploading books to iTunes Connect, I cannot debug this issue further with you. You could ask in the Apple Books Support Community, or the phone number, or email at the bottom of this page.
Pages 7.3> publish to apple books> via iTunes connect> upload> error message. tried 8 times, sometimes the error messages just says "something went wrong, try again" sometimes it says "server error" or alike.
Can one publish the book from i Cloud?

Wasn't very informative of you explaining what you are actually attempting to achieve from that anonymous version of Pages either. Clarify.
I have already two books published there, the last one about 2 years ago. The infos should all be in place, no notifications ever arrived to update anything.
