Unfortunately, your DM Lite is is not officially supported to work with an iPad connection. The DM Lite needs the power from a computer USB port to connect properly. A camera kit connection isn't officially supported with this setup neither.
You can use the GarageBand App in our Alesis DM DOCK http://www.alesis.com/dm-dock or the iO Dock II http://www.alesis.com/io-dock-ii.
