2FA on my Mac Pro 10.7.5

I updated a device and now my Mac Pro running 10.7.5 does not want to recognize the 2FA in my iCloud. It asks for my PW and I get a notification on my phone, but the Mac Pro only has a spinning wheel and does not ask for the code. Is the Mac and OS to old to work with 2FA?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I believe its Sierra through Mojave and not before. Maybe El Capitan too.
