Produce video podcast using apple apps

I need to do a short video of me speaking. Is best course to record the audio and video on Quicktime, then push it into iMovie so I can transfer it into GarageBand to edit audio (I'd like to work the voice and add a short music back track). I'm familiar with the audio, but this seems to be the approach I'd use to get an A and V piece I can upload to YouTube. Is that the sensible way to go?
