Unable to contact the iMessage server (iPad)

Referring to other posted advice, on going to settings, neither message or FaceTime settings have a means for tuning off, only login info. Everythng has worked fine for years and now does not. please advise. iOS is currrent.

I cannot log into iMessage on my iPad After a recent update, I have not been able to sign into iMessages/FaceTime on my iPad. I have not changed my password and it seems to be working on my MacBook and iPhone XR with no problems. Any ideas?

iMessages on iPad sign in When I go to either Messages or FaceTime the on/off button does not appear. All that's available is the Apple ID line, "Sign In" line (that does not work) and Create a new Apple ID line.

Whoops, correction- latest iOS for this iPad as stated as current is. 10.3.3
