if this persists (my experience is that it comes and goes) - and becomes the rule rather than the exception, email communityaccounts@apple.com and tell them that you are being plagued by ChiltinsCC's "Phantom Posts"

You are experiencing what I call "Phantom Posts"

Besides logging out, there are two workarounds for this misbehavior

  1. Post a reply to ANY message - anything at all = some folks merely post a period > " . "
When the post displays in the thread, it should also display the Phantom(s)
  2. Change the way the thread displays
    1. Goto https://discussions.apple.com/user-preferences!input.jspa = Your Preferences page
    2. Change the "Discussion View Style" from whatever it is currently
    3. [Save] - (I always leave this page open in a TAB so that I can change the View back to my preference)
    4. return to the Phantom Post thread (reload if it is in an open TAB)
    5. The Phantoms should be visible
