Have set Mail preferences to check for new messages 'Every hour' but they're coming through every few minutes. Any ideas why this is happening and how can I stop it?
Mail Version 11.5 (3445.9.1)
High Sierra 10.13.6

If with an IMAP account the "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" is checked it ignores there interval setting.
In that case it may be something you have installed. Try testing while in Safe Mode.

Thanks BDAqua, but I can't find "Use IDLE command if the server supports it"... The only advanced IMAP setting option I have is to select a TLS certicifcate...?
FWIW, the last version of OSX that had that setting was El Capitan. I suspect that's not the issue anyway. Try creating a new user accont and see if the time interval works there.

Thanks all - appreciate your suggestions but all a bit above my IT pay grade. Gonna just stick with 'Don't have Mail open unless doing Mail'. What would Steve Jobs say eh?
