iPad and iPhone getting wrong IP

Since IOS 12, all of my idevices (2 iPhones; 2 iPads) have trouble connecting to my home wifi. They can connect to other wifi signals. Replaced the router last week and the problem still exists. They pick up a 169 IP instead of the correct 192 IP. The android phones, and windows laptops connect fine. The problem only exists with the iPhones and iPads. Help!!!!!!!

For each of your iOS devices, give the following a try:

(Note: If any step resolves the issue, STOP, do not go on to the next step.)

  • Power the iOS device OFF, then ON.
  • Restart your iOS device: To restart your (perform a soft reset) iOS device, press and hold the sleep/wake button while pressing and holding the Home button. When you see the Apple logo, release both buttons. (Note: This will NOT delete any data or apps, nor change any of its settings.)
  • Toggle Airplane Mode OFF, then ON.
  • Reset your iOS device's Wi-Fi settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
  • Perform a "Reset All Settings" reset: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
  • Reset your iOS device to its factory default settings: Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings (Note: The following willerase all of your data and media and resets all of the iOS device's settings. You will need to restore it from a previous backup from either iTunes or iCloud.)
  • Make aGenius Bar appointmentat your local Apple Store or take it to anApple Authorized Service Provider

A "169" IP address is a self-assigned address when a device cannot find or communicate with the DHCP service in your home's router. There appears to be something amiss with this network since your devices can successfully get an IP address with other networks.


Do wired devices on your home network also unable to obtain the proper addresses? What is the make & model of your home's wireless router? Also, what is the make & model of the Internet modem that this router directly connects to by Ethernet?
