Receiving large file in iCloud mail

A friend is trying to send me a file that is 31.5 mb and is getting a message that it exceeds apple's limit if 28.3 mb. Is there any way I can receive this file? I keep reading about Mail Drop but I can find no way to activate it.

I am using Mohave 10.4.1

Thanks,

I am trying to receive a large file, not send it. The above articles deal with sending. I guess what I want to know is why my iCloud mail is so limited in what it can receive.

This is the message the sender received:

The mail system

message size 31581414 exceeds size limit 28311552 of

server

Attached Message

Final-Recipient: rfc822;

Original-Recipient: rfc822;

Action: failed

Status: 5.3.4

Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; message size 31581414 exceeds size limit 28311552

of server

Another recipient using gmail was able to receive the file.

Thanks, but none of these apply. These deal with setting up iCloud. I have been using iCloud since it has been in existence. I use only iMail and Safari and my OS is Mojave. I have no trouble receiving mail on any of my devices.

All I am trying to figure out is why the server is limiting the size of the file I can receive in this particular case.

It's a really bad idea to post your email address - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove it.

Many email services limit the size of attachments, usually to 20MB (which in fact is Apple's official limit), and you are not going to get round that. What your sender could do is to use a file sharing service. Hightail has a free level for files up to 100MB. Or you could get a free GMail account (which allows attachments up to 50MB).
