Disk Utility erase failed

I have the exact same issue - erased, now in disk utility. Followed steps to erase APPLE SSD, however get an error message


"erase process has failed"


Details:

Unmounting disk

Couldn't open device.

Operation failed



Any plan B advice on how to get my Macbook air working again?

Hi Grant,

Thanks for the feedback. Wish I knew what I was doing here to actually give you and the community a more detailed understanding of what i've done to try and fix. I've tried using the Internet Recovery but when I go to download the macOS there isn't a drive there. Tried also using the steps in another forum however I received an error message.


Perhaps images i've attached are helpful. Not fussed about recovering anything from the machine, just want it to work to sell.

¿which Disk Utility were you using?


You cannot use the one in MacOS, because that would erase MacOS as you were running from it.


You can not completely else the entire Drive form Recovery HD, because that would erase Recovery HD while you were running from it.


You can do this while using Internet Recovery, because it does not use your drive. It creates about 18 RAM disks to hold what is needed, so your drive is completely available for anything.
