Cannot import selected tracks from CD into iTunes

Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1

iTunes 12.9.0.164

According to the help page, when I insert a CD I should be given the option to say "Yes" or "No" to "Import all tracks?" If I click No, then check boxes should appear by each track allowing me to select the ones I want to import.

Here's the problem: iTunes does not give me this option. I get no "Yes," no "No," and no check boxes. I can either import everything or nothing at all, apparently.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make the check boxes appear and select only certain tracks to import from CD?
