can I switch (non-embedded) apple sims between ipads?

Hi there,

I just ordered a new ipad pro 11 LTE, and learned, to my dismay, that it doesn't come with an apple sim included---and I'm 2 hours drive away from the nearest apple store to buy one, and in my country (u.s.) no carriers support esim yet. I don't want to get a carrier sim.

BUT: I have both a first generation 12.9 ipad pro LTE, and an ipad air 2 LTE. Both of those came with included apple sims that weren't embedded. One of them has been used for sprint, though I just cancelled that subscription, the other one has an ongoing tmobile subscription.

Can I just pull out the apple sim from one of those earlier ipads and use it in the new 11 inch ipad? Or will that not work because of different sizes/some bizarre cellphone company rule and DRM thing?

thanks!

Size is not a problem. They all use nano SIM. One thing to pay attention to is t-mobile service. They used to offer 200MB free subscription for life. If you are one of those customers, switching SIM to another device will kill that SIM card. You may not be able to get 200MB free any longer.
