Automatic restarting due to fault

Why has my iMac restarted due it says to an error when I've not been doing anything unusual. This has happened twice within the last week. I get a little window in a variety of languages telling me that the Mac is going to restart in X number of seconds unless I press any key. I press a key and the Mac restarts as normal. From memory, I don't think it happens on any particular software programme but I could be wrong I'll have to make a note next time it happens.

I'm using OS High Sierra 10.13.6 Processor:2.5GHz Intel Core i5 Memory: 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Hey brianfromalgarve,

I understand that your iMac is restarting unexpectedly during use. I can certainly understand your concern with this, especially if this happens on it's own at random so I'd like to help. Check out the resource below for ways to troubleshoot this and help resolve. If your Mac spontaneously restarts or displays a message that it restarted or shut down because of a problem

I hope this helps.

Cheers.
