MagSafe adapter

i bought a new adapter which is the 85W MagSafe 2 . My old adapter was 60W.... is this new adapter compatable?

a Larger capacity power adapter (that fits, of course) is not an issue. It will work at exactly the rate required by your Mac. If larger, it will run cooler that the old one.


A Smaller capacity power adapter can be problematic. It can not properly run and charge at the same time. You could use it to charge while your Mac is sleeping or off, but it may cause issues while the Mac is trying to both charge and run at the same time. Not recommended for daily use.
