Apple watch interferes with iPhone

I do not get sound or vibration on the Phone when I have a Watch paired to it. But the Message, Email, Phone call, Reminder is displayed on the Phone.

I have tried 3 different Watches, Series 4 cellular models, with my iPhone XsMax and have not been able to fix the issue.

I have the Watch notifications all set to Silent, only Haptics, for those 4 functions. And it functions properly as set. The Phone is set on 3 different sounds and my custom vibration for all 4 of those functions. The Watch intercepts all calls, email, reminders, and messages and I do not get any sound or vibration from Phone. But they display on the screen as notifications are set to do.

I want all 4 functions to vibrate and sound on the Phone and also to only Haptic on the Watch. It will not function that way. I have unpaired the Watch and then the Phone functions as set. I have erased the Phone multiple times and reset from backup and new build both. No change. I have done same with Watch. No change.

Anyone else have similar experience? Or suggestions?

I have been reading the data on Notifications you sent and believe I have not set all that correctly. Thanks. I will try that with another Watch

That means that the screen is locked on the phone. It is dark, what happens when your auto-lock occurs or you press the side button to lock the phone. See this for an explanation of how Notifications work with the Apple Watch and the iPhone. Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
