I have some iPhone videos saved in Photos that I can't play. When I try to export them I get "Unknown Error (1,012)." And when I opened iMovie to see if I could convert them, the videos appear as greyed-out boxes and I can't view them. Help?

Can you export the videos with "File > Export > export unmodified original"? If you can export the original version you can test it in QUickTime Player. If you cannot even export the original, the original master files are missing or Photos cannot access them.
Where is your Photos Library stored? Sometimes videos cannot play, because the library is on an incompatible drive.

i had the same problem and exporting from photos didnt help me either
i found the files outside the photos app by "showing package contents" on photos and then searching in that folder for the filename instead which worked and played fine
Same here: I finally updated to 10.14.2, and now many of my videos in Photos are gone. I get an error when trying to play them. When exporting in original format, the error says the the file cannot be found. I also cannot find the videos in the Photos folder in my user folder. Only pictures are there...
I have the same problem. I have the latest OS 10.14.2. The mov (HECV) file was created on an iPhone 7 that had IOS11 installed.
The video was created in 2018, it is 17.5mb in size, it will not play in Photos, I can not export it I get an error (1,012). This applies to other videos that have been created on my iPhone xs max. the video.
