Hey welafever & thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'm not entirely clear on what you mean but I'll go out on a limb with what I think you meant and maybe you can fill in any gaps.
- I understand that I can manually release devices via the Apple Business Manager portal and I have been doing that.
- However I'm having to do this multiple times a day, every day, as new devices are constantly being added from one or more device suppliers/resellers.
- I have contacted the device suppliers/resellers multiple times to ask them to stop doing whatever they're doing to make them available in ABM, but they're just not doing it or they're taking their sweet time. This is not Apple's fault and I do not expect Apple to fix or facilitate anything with that so that isn't the ask here. 😉
- However Apple's own documentation says I can do something but upon further inspection and execution, I can't do what they say I can do and that's what I need help with. 🙂
I also want to throw this out there in that devices are not enrolled until you do all three steps:
- Communicate your organization DEP Customer ID to the participating Apple Authorized Reseller or carrier, and verify that they received it.
- Add the DEP Reseller ID of your participating Apple Authorized Reseller or carrier to your supplier list.
- Arrange with your participating Apple Authorized Reseller or carrier to have them submit your orders through their portal to Apple (it won’t happen automatically).
If any one of those steps are not complete, then it won't work.
That said, it stands to reason that if an Apple Business Manager customer were to remove a DEP Reseller ID, then the whole process would break. (i.e.: If I can't get my device suppliers/resellers to do their part, I'm take matters into my own hands and pull the plug.)
Does this help?
