Strange sim removal pin- unboxing new Iphone 7. Is it genuine?

It looks a bit more rounded than the ones I have, it should work fine as long as it fits in the SIM Card Tray Hole. Where did you purchase the iPhone from. Perhaps Apple has changed the removal pin design?

Remember you can also unbend a paper clip and use it to remove the SIM Card. Attached is a photo of the one's I have.

Hmm. Mine with an XS definitely had the gap as that was needed to attach it to the wings in the card as shown in the OPs photo. Maybe different depending on the source (e.g., Apple direct vs AT&T vs ?).

If my memory is correct it looks identical to the SIM removal tool that came with my iPhone Xs.
