Is there any way to block Private Browser in Safari on iPads? Using iOS 12.1; and 9.3.5

We are having a problem with some students getting in the private browser on Safari instead of doing their Classwork. When they are using their apps for their class work it records how long they used that app. Some students only show 20 minutes yet they have been on the iPad for a couple of hours. Is there any way that we can block the private browser in Safari? This is in a classroom with grades 6-8.

iPad Mini Wi-Fi, iOS 12.1, also iOS 9.3.5

If the iPads are not managed by an MDM software, then you need to manually restrict it.

Depending on what iOS version the iPads are running, (iOS 12) go to Settings->Screen Time->Content & Privacy Restrictions->Content Restrictions->Web Content->Limit Adult Websites, or (iOS 11 or earlier) Settings->General->Restrictions->Websites->Limit Adult Websites and turn it on.

This automatically removes the private browsing option from Safari.
