Two accounts for the same child got added to my family share account. How can I remove the extra one?

When I was setting up a child account it said the first attempt failed because the iCloud account was already taken, so I went through the process picking a different account. Low and behold both accounts were set up so now I have my child listed twice with different AppleIDs. How can I delete the extra one?

If the account is for a child under 13, the only way to remove them is to transfer them to another Family Sharing account. Obviously, that's not going to work in this case. I'd suggest contacting Apple Support and seeing if they can remove the duplicate for you. Start with the Contact Support button at the top right of every page of the forums.
