Can't Clear Downloaded Art

I have been re-ripping my entire CD collection lately to the Apple Lossless format and I discovered an anomaly with The Eurythmics' Greatest Hits. The art that is downloaded for this album is for Cat Steven's Greatest Hits. To make it worse, if I right click and select "Clear Downloaded Artwork" nothing happens. Can anyone tell me how to clear this bogus art?

Here is what I have tried so far:
1. Select "Clear Downloaded Artwork" with the entire album selected.
2. Went into "Get Info" for each track and deleted the individual artwork but the album art was still there for the entire album.
3. Pasted correct album art in each track.
4. Deleted the tracks, turned OFF "download missing album art" in Preferences and re-ripped the album.

All to no avail. I have Cat Stevens artwork for an Eurythmics album and I can't seem to get rid of it. Don't get me wrong. I like Cat Stevens and all, but I would like the album art to match the artist. 🙂

I have been ripping hundreds of CDs in the last few weeks and this is the first time this has happened. Every other time I can delete bogus artwork.

Many thanks,

Chris

Thanks for the response. Let me make sure I have this right:

If I select the album in the browser (top 1/3 of iTunes). I have selected the view where the album art is shown on the left of the song tracks (middle of the 3 "View" buttons). I can't seem to find anywhere to right click where it gives me the option to "Clear Downloaded Artwork."

I can clear the artwork from each individual track by right clicking . . . and the artwork disappears from the Artwork Viewer (in the lower left corner of iTunes). But the Cat Stevens art remains for the album.

I seem to have some kind of corrupted file. Is there a way to delete the file directly from the hard drive? Or rebuild the art library?

Many thanks,
Heather

It looks like something is definitely corrupted. If I right click and clear album artwork, the Cat Stevens image is still there. If I right click again the option to Clear Downloaded Artwork is no longer in the context menu.

Is it possible to trace the artwork back to the file on the hard drive? Or rebuild the artwork database?

Many thanks,
Heather

You are correct. Once I have cleared the artwork, I can Get Info on an individual track and nothing is there. However, instead of the album artwork showing as a blank, it STILL shows as the Cat Stevens artwork.

Worse, if I paste in the correct artwork for all of the individual tracks, the overall artwork for the album remains incorrect.

I am flummoxed. There is a corrupted link or file here. Not sure how to find / fix it.

I am having the same problem Heather is. I tunes keeps downloading the wrong art for the Jimi Hendrix album Axis:Bold as Love. It keeps loading the art from the Experience Hendrix album for the overall cover art. If I clear the art, delete the songs and re-rip the cd, it deos the same thing. If I delete the local and downloaded art folders from my hard drive and restart I Tunes, it still loads the wrong art every time. The artwork has worked well for me on most versions of I Tunes but both 6.0 and 7.0 do this. I unchecked the option to automatically download the art and this did not work either. I don't know what else to try. Can any I Tunes experts out there help me? I am about to give up on fixing the art for this album.

I finally figured it out. After deleting the downloaded and local art folders from from I Tunes and unchecking automatically download missing art in I Tunes preferences and restarting I Tunes several times it finally cleared the unwanted art. All my other art in I Tunes(for over 16,000 songs in all) seems to be intact. The location of those art folders is in C:/my documents/my music/I Tunes/downloaded artwork.
