Help with Keynote and Smartboard

I have been using Keynote with my Smartboard for years. I have advanced slides by tapping the Smartboard. This has stopped working. Now I tap the board and the mouse cursor pops up instead of advancing to the next slide. I have tried fiddling with the Keynote preferences but with no luck. Any suggestions?
