Backlight on MacBook Pro screen not working.

I have a 13in MacBook Pro w/touchbar (late 2016) and recently the backlight on the retina screen stopped working. I'm not sure why it happened since I havent dropped it or damaged the computer in any way. I have to plug my MacBook into an external display to use it. I've tried the resets and even talked to apple support and the only way to fix my problem will be to replace the screen completely. Unfortunately i do not have applecare, so can anyone please give me an idea of how much I should expect to pay. Thank you.
