As you were told already, DVD Player was moved.
If you want to reach it easily:
1) Use Spotlight (still the fastest way!): command-space, type DVD, enter
2) Once you have it running, click and hold the Dock icon and choose Options->Keep in Dock. If you are a Dock person, there you have it, ready to click on any time.
It was moved. It should start automatically when you insert a recorded DVD.
In case you wonder where…
/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications/DVD Player.app
I am using the accessory DVD player and it doesn't start automatically. iMovie comes on the screen, but I am not trying to create a movie. I also typed in the file you included in your second email and got the message "File Not Found."
