Can’t hear others on I phone 8 plus

My I phone 8 plus has issue where I have to use speaker phone I can’t hear the other person unless I use speaker phone what do I do.

If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn't clear on your iPhone - Apple Support
