Why does IMovie still take so long to upload?

I am a start up YouTuber so I have to use IMovie for all my editing. But IMovie, like in the past, is taking forever to upload my new, edited video to YouTube. I’ve tried exporting the file onto my computer and uploading directly to YouTube -which by the way puts IMovie to shame- and it exports the unedited version of the video. I’m sorry, but if I didn’t need to edit I wouldn’t be using IMovie, so it needs to give me my edited version! Do I just need to stop using IMovie or is there something that I can do to help it?

Hi, Jeffrey,

Uploads to You Tube are generally slow. Upload speed also can be affected by the duration of the movie, its complexity, its resolution, and the speed of your processor. Do you have the slower i5 processor? Are you low on hard drive space?

The most reliable way to upload from iMovie to You Tube is the one you have found -- share the movie to your desktop, and drag it into You Tube's uploader. If it goes slowly from there that would be You Tube's problem.

I have never heard of iMovie sharing out a movie without including the edits. However, since it is happening to you try opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you can share out properly.

You might also try booting up in Safe Mode (see Help menu) and, after everything loads, immediately reboot in normal mode. Sometimes that clears things out.
