Target Display Mode connection - Safe to Unplug?
Hello All,
I am using a 2018 MacBook Pro with a 2012 iMac in Target Display Mode. And I am trying to sort out the best way to engage TDM with non-apple bluetooth peripherals. But I am not having much luck. Normally you need to press CMD+F2 on the iMac keyboard to start or exit TDM. But apparently this is not possible with non-apple bluetooth keyboards. (I am using a Logitech k380)
I am using an app called VirtualKVM which - when both the MBP and iMac are connected via thunderbolt cable, automatically starts TDM. Which is great - but unfortunately doesn't not work consistently. But I digress. The problem is I don't know how to safely exit TDM since I don't have/want a wired apple keyboard hooked up to the iMac to press CMD+F2 on. Is it safe to just unplug the thunderbolt cable instead, or could that damage something?
If anyone else has alternative solutions to this kind of set up, it would be great if you shared!
Thanks,
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
