2018 iPad 6th gen recharge times
Well hello apple fam. I’ve seen the question many times and no direct answers. I’ve gone to a few of the questions but it will not allow me to post or reply, therefore I have to ask a new question to “start the thread again”. I have the answer, lol, so It just seems counter productive to have to ask the question again just to answer it, so I’ll do just that for you here today. Hopefully this finds its way to the people looking for an answer to how long the brand new 2018 iPads take to charge. I hav a brand new 2018 - 128Gb iPad with AT&T 4g LTE cell service (not that it matters THAT much in this case).
That said, the new iPad takes around 6.5-7 hours to charge from a 0%, completely dead state in my experience. I’ve had the iPad for 4 months now and have fully drained it about a dozen times to get a good baseline for charge times. 6.5-7 hours charge time from 0% with the iPad turned on once it reached about 1-2% charge, and with Wi-Fi on and connected. Following the same steps, but using the 4g LTE cellular connection and having the Wi-Fi turned OFF, that time increases to about 7.5 to just under 8 hours charge time. This info is accurate assuming you are NOT USING THE IPAD, just having it on and laying there.
If if I kept the iPad completely off during a charge, I shaved about half hour off the time and had a full charge in about 6 hours. Last but not least, under basic use (browsing the web, checking emails, watching a few videos, etc) the iPad took 8-10 hours to charge.
***All charge times were measured using the original 12w apple charger and cable which came with the iPad. This charger allows up to 5.2v @ 2.4 amps charging current assuming an original or other high-quality cable is used which can accommodate that current. I have also gotten same, or better, results with a HIGH QUALITY aftermarket data cable. Cheap cables and crap you can buy in 7-11 and other convenience stores for $5 bucks (including the cheap 3rd party crap at even Best Buy, Fry’s, and other electronics stores) will typically hinder the charge time and data transfer speed by 20%-50% or more, because they use inferior materials or simply less copper in the wire. I typically consider cables under $20 dollars (retail) cheap junk that will slow this process way down. Always buy original or super high quality cables as cheap ones can actually damage your device!***
Hopefully this info reaches the right people which are seeking an answer and cannot find it anywhere else as I have run into myself. Also, I try to provide as much info as possible, usually more than needed, this way you may answer questions which you didn’t know you had yet!👍😁😎
Leave your comments, further questions, and even complete crap below, I’d love to read about it!
