Apple Watch counting steps while cycling
Just got a Watch Series 4 and working to understand various reports.
I've read in several places that the Apple Watch doesn't double-count workout sessions reported from concurrently-running apps, e.g. Workout, Strava and Wahoo Fitness.
So far my observation confirms that, at least in terms of session time, that's correct -- if I do a 45 minute workout and sync the session to e.g. Workout and Wahoo Fitness, only one (not two) 45 minute exercise is recorded. Both are shown in the Health and Activity apps, but only one is credited for loop-closing purposes.
The reported calorie burn is NEITHER the count given by Workout NOR the count given by Wahoo, so that's confusing.
However I'm pretty certain that Apple Watch is double-counting (or mis-recording) cycling cadence as Steps -- when I do a cycling session the Watch is also giving me Steps while I'm riding. This is confirmed by looking at the bar graph for Steps (in Health app) and comparing that with the data source -- Health gave me 1000 steps for a time interval when I was sitting on a stationary bike.
It's probably a "so what" but I'm curious if others have seen the same error, and what other errors (bugs?!) are still in the Apple Watch exercise (cycling) environment.
