Apple Watch Altimeter not working

Hi all

For the last few workouts now, I have noticed that the elevation level on my Watch 3 is showing at 0ft, even though I know I have run uphill a few times over said workouts.

I have tried pairing/unpairing, fiddling with the settings in health & activity apps etc.

What i I have noticed though is a setting on the iPhone privacy under location settings, the Apple Watch Workout is set to ”Never”.

Is this setting needed to get to get an elevation reading from Apple Watch 3?

if not, why is it that Apple Watch is not showing me elevation On my runs, hikes etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi warnerrj39,

It sounds like you need help getting your Apple Watch to track your location during workouts. I want to help you get that working.

For your Apple Watch to record information about where you go during workouts, you'll need to enable your location, this includes your elevation.

You can learn more about getting accurate measurements here:

I hope that helps.
