Combo Cleaner &. maftask

Many posts and responses to similar problems suggest that the Mac OSX does not need additional software help.

but I have recently been plagued by maftask and associated software. I have followed numerous instructions and advice as to removal of unwanted apps etc. but "maftask" still constantly reappears on the Activity Monitor list.

There isn't any apparent icons showing in Applications now. I have trawled through the "maftask" scripts but, life is too short and I am ancient, so downloaded apps from the Apple store, none of which detected maftask.

Very reluctant to download apps not available in the Apple store but took the plunge and bought Combo Cleaner, problem resolved.

Although now free of 'maftask', I hope, what other alternatives or settings on my Mac, are there?
