Nothing the OP reported suggested that it isn't malware either! Node is a very popular Javascript library used in a lot of software—particularly web frameworks, and it certainly can be used maliciously. As another poster suggested, typing "ps aux | grep node" into Terminal can show you where it might be in use on your system; in my case both Slack and Creative Cloud are.

Deleting the contents of your keychain is like trying to remove a splinter with a chainsaw. I don't recommend that approach, but you should definitely track down the source before you blindly give Node high level access to your system.

Mac sales are 13% down year-on-year because of terrible support like this. And don't bother saying you're "not Apple support", this is an Apple website and you're supposedly some Level 10 ninja so if they're not paying you then whoever is should fire you because you spend all your time here. You could have explained what this message means and why it's not a problem and how to stop getting it. MacOS and Apple support used to be years ahead of Microsoft/Windows and now it's years behind. I'm typing this on my 7th and last Apple computer. I paid a lot of money for an absolute top of the line MacBook Pro and it has been anything but a premium experience.

Couldn't agree more. It's tougher and tougher to find answers to bugs and oddities. Adobe is even worse. This decision to use the term "Node" rather than "Adobe" is confusing. And Apple's decision to not provide more info about who/what is requiring a keychain password.

After dropping 3k on a base model MacBook Pro, I couldn't afford another $300 - $400 on Apple Care. So I rely on forums like this for answers. Apple, just like Adobe, fail to answer a lot of questions. Is it really that difficult for the 2nd wealthiest company in the world to pay a few people to answer questions in forums?
